Counter Culture is a pintxos restaurant in the heart of Newquay, taking a pragmatic yet soulful approach to dining. The team needed their first suite of images to express this vision; rooted in land and sea, bold in character, and vibrant in execution. In a saturated food scene, the goal was clear: create a visual identity that felt unmistakably theirs.
Creative Direction
The brief focused on capturing the spirit of the food - playful, inventive, and deeply seasonal. Every dish tells a story of local sourcing, with ingredients grown on Cornish farms and pulled from nearby waters. We leaned into texture, colour, and energy, avoiding over-styling to let the food speak for itself.
APPROACH
Shot in the restaurant’s natural light and supplemented with subtle artificial sources, we built a consistent visual language across plates, people, and place. Movement was key - pouring, plating, passing - to reflect the social, high-tempo nature of pintxos dining. The result was imagery that feels alive, grounded, and honest.
